Fibroscan
Fibroscan is a type of liver elastography. Liver elastography is a non-invasive test that uses ultrasound to measure liver stiffness. This test can be useful for people with liver diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis and cirrhosis. It can help your specialist to measure and monitor your liver.
To perform a fibroscan your doctor or specialist nurse uses a small probe placed onto the skin of the abdomen. The probe uses ultrasound to measure liver stiffness. It is connected to a computer which collects the data.
The test takes only a few minutes. Once it is finished you will be able to resume your usual activities.
A report of your liver stiffness will be produced. Your specialist will discuss this with you during your next appointment with them.
Bravo pH monitoring can be helpful for people with liver disease. Your specialist will advise you if this test might help guide your personalised treatment regime.
