Bravo pH Monitoring
Bravo pH monitoring measures the acidity at the lower end of the oesophagus. This can be a useful test for people with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).
Bravo pH monitoring uses a small capsule temporarily clipped to the oesophagus. The capsule measures the pH in the lower oesophagus over 48 hours and wirelessly transmits this information to a small receiver worn on your belt or waistband.
Your specialist will place the capsule during a gastroscopy, an endoscopic examination of the oesophagus and stomach. You will be given specific advice regarding diet and medication prior to the procedure.

The capsule will measure the pH in your lower oesophagus for 48 hours. Your specialist will instruction you to press the buttons on the receiver when you experience symptoms. After 48 hours, you will return the receiver to Intus. The disposable capsule will spontaneously detach and be passed through the digestive tract a few days later.
Bravo pH monitoring can be helpful for people with GORD. Your specialist will advise you if this test might help guide your personalised treatment regime.
